Performance

All Q50 models offer a longitudinally positioned twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 combined with a 7-speed automatic before sending power to either the rear wheels or all wheels. The transmission features Downshift Rev Matching and manual shift control. The drivetrain also includes Hill Start Assist, which automatically holds the brakes until the accelerator pedal is pushed when encountering a stop-and-go situation on an incline. 

Along with twin turbochargers, the engine includes direct fuel injection and continuously variable timing to optimize valve time up and down the rev range. Two states of tuning are offered. LUXE and SENSORY modes provide 300 hp @ 6,400 rpm and 295 lb-ft @ 1,500-5,200 rpm, which delivers plenty of performance for a vehicle of the Q50’s size. The RED SPORT 400 gets its last name from the peak 400 horsepower it produces at 6,400 rpm along with a torque peak of 350 lb-ft @ 1,600 – 5,200. 

The RED SPORT 400 backs up its engine output with enhanced 4-piston brake calipers up front and dual-piston calipers in the rear. The model rides on a Dynamic Digital Suspension, with dampers that continuously vary damping based on road and driving conditions for optimum ride and handling. RWD RED SPORT 400 models feature a staggered-width wheel configuration, with 0.5-inch wider rear wheels, while AWD models naturally even things up front and rear. 

Exterior

The Q50 exhibits classic RWD sports sedan proportions with short overhangs and an extended space between the front door and front fender openings. The face is fierce and purposeful with the classic INFINITI double arch grille pitched slightly by the LED headlights. The lower intake flows from, but is separate from the primary grille to create a very clean front end. 

Muscular contouring on the hood and sides invoke movement, even when the Z50 is parked. The RED SPORT 400 adds aggression with a blacked-out grille with body-color surround and black trim on the sides and rear. Returning for 2024 is the Black Opal edition of the RED SPORT 400 which features a striking iridescent exterior color that echoes the multi-appearance appearance of naturally occurring black opals. Black Opal Metallic paint shimmers and shifts between blue, green and purple hues depending on lighting and viewing angle.

Interior

The Q50 instrument panel is driver-focused and displays upscale materials and a high attention to detail. All models feature leather seating surfaces, with softer semi-aniline leather featured on the RED SPORT 400 with contrast red stitching. The RED SPORT 400 also adds aluminum pedals and genuine Matte Black carbon fiber trim.

The center display is fully integrated into the dash design and there are plenty of physical controls for instant response. If you prefer the interface of AppleCarPlay and Android Auto, they are available wirelessly. All models immerse you in sound with 16 speakers from the Bose® Performance Series audio system. 

Safety and Driver Assistance 

The Q50 provides Predictive Forward Collision Warning backed up by Forward emergency Braking mitigation. There is also Back Up Collision Intervention w/Cross Traffic Alert mitigation. You will also find several standard driver assistance technologies including:
