INFINITI QX60 Named to Cars.com’s American-Made Index

During times when various tariffs are frequently discussed in the news, the topic of American-made vehicles and their American content has resurfaced. Cars.com’s American Made Index (AMI) tracks how “American-made” vehicles sold in this country truly are, and Dick Smith INFINITI is pleased to announce that the INFINITI’s 3-row crossover, the QX60, has been named to the index, along with five Nissan models.    

“Six vehicles making the list shows how deeply Nissan is invested in assembling vehicles where we sell, and doing it with quality,” said David Johnson, Regional Senior Vice President, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management and Purchasing, Nissan Americas. “This recognition underscores our dedication to delivering high-quality vehicles in the U.S. and supporting thousands of American jobs.” 

It takes an expert to determine the domestic content of a vehicle. Luckily, the experts at Cars.com have been doing this for 20 years. They consider five main factors when assessing the American-made content of a specific model. 

• Location(s) of final assembly
• Percentage of U.S. and Canadian parts
• Countries of origin for all available engines
• Countries of origin for all available transmissions
• U.S. manufacturing workforce

Cars.com doesn’t disclose how each factor is weighted, but emphasizes that all aspects are essential. Each model is scored on a 100-point scale. In the event of a tie, heavier models are ranked higher, as it could be argued that more weight signifies more content. The AMI includes all mass-produced “light-duty passenger vehicles as defined by the Federal Highway Administration”; vehicles over 10,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Rating are excluded. Overall, over 400 model-year 2025 vehicles were analyzed, with only 100 making the final list, further emphasizing the importance of the QX60’s AMI status. 

The QX60 is assembled at the Nissan/INFINITI plant in Smyrna, Tennessee, which has been operational for over 42 years. The QX60 engine is also produced at the Nissan powertrain plant in Decherd, Tennessee. 

“Nissan and INFINITI’s performance on this year’s American-Made Index reflects the brands’ strong manufacturing presence in the U.S.,” said Patrick Masterson, Lead Researcher for Cars.com’s American-Made Index. “The Nissan Pathfinder, Frontier, and Murano—as well as the INFINITI QX60—all earned spots on the Index thanks to their assembly in Tennessee and solid domestic parts content. These vehicles are built for the needs of American drivers—whether it’s a family SUV, a capable midsize pickup, or a luxury crossover—and they play an important role in supporting U.S. jobs and the local economy.”
