INFINITI QX80 and QX60 Awarded for Excellence in Safety by IIHS

INFINITI vehicles have always focused on safety, with many earning top marks in crash testing by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). That’s the case with the all-new 2025 QX80 and the 2024-2025 QX60, which were both recently awarded Top Safety Pick designations by the IIHS. 

The QX60 earned a Top Safety Pick+, the IIHS’ top honor. It scored “Good” ratings in most categories, with its car seat LATCH system grabbing the top “Good+” designation. INFINITI equips a long list of standard safety features, including predictive forward collision warnings, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warnings, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking, and more.  

The redesigned QX80 earned a Top Safety Pick award, scoring “Good” across the board. It also gets a generous number of standard driver-assist features, including blind spot interventions and a smart rearview camera. Using rear-facing cameras, the system projects an unobstructed view of the SUV’s rear surroundings in the rearview mirror. The SUV also features the INFINITI ProPilot Assist 2.1 system, which offers hands-free driving in limited situations.  

Earning a Top Safety Pick designation becomes harder every year as the IIHS adjusts its criteria to account for new vehicle models and updated technologies. The Top Safety Pick+ award requires a “Good” score in the small overlap front test, “Acceptable” or “Good” in the updated moderate overlap front test, a “Good” rating in the side test, “Acceptable” or “Good” in headlight testing, and “Acceptable” or “Good” in the pedestrian front crash prevention test. 

That criteria became tough enough in 2024 to knock several vehicles off the Top Safety Pick list, making the QX60 and QX80’s performance even more impressive. Strong crash-test performance and standard driver-assistance tech are also strong selling points.
