Motor Trend Explores the QX80’s Interior

September 5th, 2025 by

As you may know by now, INFINITI has completely redesigned its flagship QX80 full-size three-row SUV for 2025. The exterior and the drivetrain are both completely new. Thanks to a review from Motor Trend, this Dick Smith INFINITI post focuses solely on the QX80’s luxurious interior.

Motor Trend tested the QX80 in its top Autograph trim and experienced all the technology and features of the redesigned model. The interior color emphasized luxury with quilted burgundy semi-aniline leather, creating a space of burgundy and black surfaces, with the latter occasionally accented by matching burgundy stitching. Other interior trim details include open-pore wood with metallic pinstriping.

INFINITI has stated this interior represents the direction for future INFINITI models. In line with expectations for luxury interior technology, the QX80 features numerous LED lights and touchscreens. Alongside the digital driver’s information display, a 14.3-inch center touchscreen is seamlessly integrated into the dash design. Where the center console meets the dash is a third nine-inch screen primarily dedicated to the climate control system. This screen displays large graphics for adjusting temperature, fan speed, and air direction, and also includes controls for various seat-specific climate features, such as heat, ventilation, and massage mode.

Just below the climate screen are physical buttons for transmission selection and a button for the drive modes. Push that, and the climate screen changes to accommodate your drive mode selection. In addition to the digital driver display, much of the most used information—speed, audio, driver assistance settings, and even navigation—is projected onto the car’s windshield via a full-color head-up display. Motor Trend found this quite handy. “…we missed it when we had to give the car back.”

“This QX80 had some of the most comfortable seats we’ve sat in this year. Supportive and cushioned, they’re a very nice place to sit and relax for a few hours on the road,” said Motor Trend, pointing out that the second-row seats are nearly identical and can even be equipped with the same heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Second-row occupants have their own touchscreen for controlling these features and other climate settings.

The infotainment system is Google-based and features onboard Google Maps. The controls respond quickly and intuitively. One of the system’s highlights, operated through Google, is the Autograph’s 24-speaker audio setup, which includes an 8.0-inch subwoofer, titanium tweeters, four roof-mounted speakers, and dual headrest speakers for each front seat, with channel separation for all 24 speakers. A particularly useful feature of the headrest speakers is that the driver can take calls and listen through them. This not only keeps the call private from others in the vehicle, but music can also continue to play through the rest of the cabin while the driver listens and talks clearly during the call.

The Autograph features 360-degree camera views to help you see around the large vehicle. Notably, the Invisible Hood view offers a front view that is normally blocked by the hood. An internal camera can also be activated to show what’s happening in the second row, which is especially helpful if your kids are acting up. However, it may be less appreciated by 15-year-old teenagers who still depend on parent-driven transportation for those awkward, early dates.

The third row is accessed by folding the second-row seats. Third-row seats can often feel and look like secondary options in other 3-row SUVs, but these still feature the same attractive quilted surfaces on the outer seats, along with generous cushioning and ample space. The outer seats can also be heated, which is quite notable for 3-row SUVs.

All of it contributes to an interior that has definitely made its mark in the full-size luxury SUV class. Experience the new QX80 today at Dick Smith INFINITI in Columbia, SC.
