QX60 vs. Acura MDX vs. Lexus TX500h

The 2024 INFINITI QX60 is one of the better and more perfect crossovers on the market currently. When compared to two of its chief rivals, the Acura MDX and Lexus T500h, the INFINITI is much less expensive while still offering the same or better levels of luxury and amenities. A recent comparison test by AutoGuide shows that the QX60 easily makes its case for the best of the best.

2024 INFINITI QX60 As-Tested Price

AutoGuide’s review of the 2024 QX60 is beyond glowing and, at times, shows just how far above the other two the INFINITI is for the price. In the test, the QX60 Autograph AWD had an as-tested price of $68,145, which was $7,880 less than the Lexus and $7,605 less than the Acura.

Costing Less Doesn’t Mean Cheap

The journalist writing the review about the QX60 remarked that being less expensive than the competition doesn’t make you better if you can’t hold your own against them. That’s where the QX60 shines, though: “Costing less is one thing, but the QX60 looks anything but cheap. From any angle, the INFINITI offers a less trendy, more dignified elegance missing from the other two. The Infiniti’s champagne-hued paint was positively liquid in depth and lustre, while the contrasting black roof hints at Range Rover style, which is never a bad thing.”

Engine, Cargo Space, and Safety

The 2024 QX60 features a 3.5-liter V6 that produces a healthy 295 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. With all-wheel drive, the INFINITI can tow up to 6,000 lbs when properly equipped, which is 1,000 more than the other two in this test. As a true three-row SUV, the QX60 also has plenty of space for passengers and cargo. Behind the third row, buyers will find 14.5 cu.ft., which opens to 41.6 cu.ft. with the third-row seats folded, and finally, 75.4 cu.ft. with all rear rows folded flat. The QX60 comes standard with advanced safety features that include Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Rear Automatic Braking, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and High Beam Assist.

A Superior Interior

You can’t have a winning formula if you don’t have the interior to hold up against the attractiveness of your exterior styling. Again, the INFINITI has buyers covered with more than enough for the price of admission: “But as pleasing as the QX60’s exterior is, it’s the cabin of our top-of-the-line Autograph tester that wowed our reviewers. The semi-aniline leather with its quilted stitching, gives a very positive first impression. Then one notices those cognac-coloured hides are dramatically offset by a wide swath of black-stained, open-pore wood and subtle aluminum trim. It’s both tasteful and striking, and immediately helps remind a buyer they’ve splashed out for a premium-brand product. It feels special in the QX60.”

An Easier-To-Use Cabin

Speaking of interior quality, infotainment is also a very important function of driving any modern vehicle. The 12.3-inch touchscreen display in the INFINITI not only offers standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto but also a WiFi hotspot, navigation, and a 17-speaker Bose sound system. AutoGuide also noted, “Of course, operating the QX60’s infotainment system is easier than the Lexus’s slightly more complex series of menus, and dramatically better than the downright infuriating Acura track-pad system.”

The Final Rankings

When the test was all said and done, AutoGuide placed the Acura MDX in third, the Lexus TX500h in second, and gave the gold medal to the INFINITI simply because it outshines everything while costing customers less money in the end.
