Which Is Best For You QX60 vs QX80

June 15th, 2025 by

Deciding what you need for your next vehicle can become frustrating when looking at multiple different vehicles. In this case, which INFINITI is right for you, the QX60 or the all-new QX80?

Which Is Best for You?

Price is certainly a difference between the two vehicles, with the QX60 starting from $51,550 compared to the QX80, which is priced from $84,445. It may seem a little odd to compare these two SUVs to one another, but sometimes price isn’t the driving factor when you need to understand what you truly need in the search for the right fit.

Meet The 2025 QX60

The three-row INFINITI QX60 is the brand’s middle model, slotting in just above the two-row QX50 and coupe-like QX55. The QX60 is available in four trim levels: Pure, Luxe, Sensory, and Autograph. Front-wheel drive is standard on the Pure and Luxe models, with Intelligent AWD optional. Sensory and Autograph trims have AWD as standard.

A New Engine That Brings New Life

While often compared to other luxury offerings from Acura and Lexus, the INFINITI proves to be unique with its new-for-2025 2.0-liter four-cylinder Variable Compression Turbo (VC-Turbo) engine that blends performance and efficiency like no other. The VC-Turbo develops 268 horsepower and 286 lb-ft of torque and is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The crossover achieves an EPA estimated 22 miles per gallon driving through the city and 28 mpg when driving down the highway when equipped with front-wheel drive, and basically the same with all-wheel drive at 22 city and 27 highway. If you need to tow, the INFINITI can do that easily with 6,000 lbs of capacity when properly equipped.

A Beautiful Interior

When stepping inside, you will notice a supple leather interior with a beautiful 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen that features standard Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, and a 9-speaker sound system. A 17-speaker Bose Performance system is optional on LUXE trim levels and higher. All trim levels receive a wireless charger and five USB ports, two front, two in the second row, and one in the third row. When selecting the top two trims, you will get an extra USB port for the third row.

Interior Space

With the third row in place, the QX60 has 14.5 cubic feet of cargo space, which increases to 41.6 cu.ft. when the third row is folded. When all rear rows are folded down, you will have a total of 75.4 cubes of space. The total passenger volume is quite vast at 140.6 cu.ft.

A Really Safe Vehicle

Anyone who buys a QX60 will also get excellent standard safety equipment, including Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Automatic Braking, and High Beam Assist. This all helped the INFINITI crossover receive the coveted Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick.

Meet The All-New QX80

Like the QX60, the QX80 is a three-row vehicle, but quite a bit larger. It, too, comes in the same four trim levels: Pure, Luxe, Sensory, and Autograph. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the Pure and Luxe, with All-Mode 4WD optional. Sensory and Autograph trims only come in 4WD.

As the flagship INFINITI, the QX80 is all-new for 2025 with a brand new 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 that is modeled after the engine that’s in the GTR and makes 450 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque with a 9-speed automatic. The EPA says the RWD QX80 achieves 16 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway, with 4WD models getting just one fewer mpg per cycle. Owners will be able to tow up to 8,500 lbs, which is quite a bit more than the QX60. So, if you like to travel with a camper, horses, or anything larger with a vehicle full of passengers and luggage, the larger INFINITI will be a better fit.

An Interior To Die For

Where the QX60 has a nice leather-appointed interior, the QX80 takes everything up a notch with leather on seemingly every surface, plus dual 14.3-inch gauge clusters and infotainment touchscreen displays that are a first for the brand. A standard 9-inch touchscreen is mounted below the infotainment screen and handles all your climate control settings. A head-up display is also optional. One of the unique interior features of the all-new QX80 is the introduction of segment-first Biometric Cooling. An infrared sensor in the headliner monitors when passengers in the second row are warm and immediately switches the temperature and air flow to get the right degree and amount of cold air to passengers.

The Best Sound System

The 2025 QX80 comes standard with a powerful Klipsch sound system that features 600 watts, 14 speakers, and a 12-channel amp. However, stepping up to the Sensory and Autograph models gets you quite possibly the greatest sound system ever to be put in a car with the 24-speaker Klipsch ultra-premium system. This system features 1,200 watts, four High Line roof-mounted speakers, a 24-channel amp, and an 8-inch TriPower subwoofer. Thanks to Individual Audio and DynamicAudioReveal, everyone will feel like they’re in the Sphere in Las Vegas, experiencing a private concert.

Interior Capacity

It’s not just in the features where the QX80 sets itself apart from the middle-child QX60. Behind the third row, there is an extra eight cubic feet of space for 22. Folding the third row gets you 59 cu.ft., and with all rows folded, the SUV has 101 cu.ft. of interior space.  Total passenger volume is a massive 161.1 cu.ft.

An Industry Leader in Safety

Like the QX60, the QX80 is also incredibly safe. It has been ranked as a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS and comes standard with Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Blind Spot Intervention, Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Prevention, and Trailer Blind Spot Warning that works when towing anything up to 33 feet long.
